Literally crappy coffee…

Kopi luwak (civet coffee), is a coffee that consists of partially digested coffee cherries, which have been eaten and defecated by the Asian palm civet. The defecated cherries are collected and sold.

I’ll pass… ;-)

My son was recently in Bali and brought some home since everyone was raving about it. I told him “You got the cat poop coffee!”. He had no idea how it was made. We tried it, decided we prefer Wawa’s coffee.

Made from the finest bat guano….

Have had it a number of times, and even brought some back from Indonesia. Not exactly my cup of tea…….

I just googled what Kopi luwak is and believe me, you don’t wanna know how it’s made.

Yep, I know what kopi luwak is.

It comes from Indonesia, and it’s very, very expensive. I don’t know why Joe’s parents would buy it in New York, but I suppose you could get it there if you paid enough.

I believe Dave Barry referred to that as a Poopuccino.

Makes me wonder who thought this was a good idea in the first place. It’s not an idea that would seem obvious.

The best coffee is always something that’s been pooped out by something. This stuff is from a civet, I think there’s a south american one that comes from a cat, even one that’s been inside an elephant. I remember the cat one from an episode of CSI, I think that stuff is like $50 a cup.

I think I would have preferred to have tried it before I googled it. I just couldn’t have as open a mind during tasting knowing what it was already!

But Joe, how does it taste?

i’m kinda courious to try it.
