Science fiction writer Harry Harrison was a big proponent of Esperanto and had it widely spoken in the future in his Stainless Steel Rat novels. Then there was an episode of the Danny Phantom cartoon, which described it as “An artificial language from the 1800’s. Now it’s only purpose is to give geeks a secret language to talk to other geeks in.”
I used to have aspirations to journalism and wrote a blog with my observations of modern life, imaging future historians reading it and saying:
“And now here’s the writing of Clotty Peristalt, that most famous and reliable chronicler of the late 20th and early 21st century. The period in history we now refer to as the Age of Morons.”
If Monty is an engineer, why was there no mention of the time capsule itself? Hmmm…
’’I’ve used a ceramic vessel, purged the atmosphere with Nitrogen and sealed the lid with high strength epoxy. And just to be sure, wrapped the whole thing with duct-tape.’’
Technical note, a maxwell house coffee can does not make a good capsule.
Very clever! Esperanto is the world’s most widely spoken constructed international auxiliary language. Created by the Warsaw-based ophthalmologist L. L. Zamenhof in 1887, it is intended to be a universal second language for international communication, or “the international language”. WikipediaRealistic that the air won’t be breathable in the future.

“No, not Montgomery Montahue! It was Montague Montahue! Can’t trust that Wikipedia biography!”
And the helmeted aliens, if they really are aliens and not just evolved earthlings, will not be speaking Esperanto, of all the silly possibilities….
