For Capp, the pub is his ONLY necessity!! Maybe that’s why Jack opened it even in bad weather.

And why was the door left open? Unless the wind blew it open.

Nor rain sleet or hail….

The closest we will ever get to seeing Andy without his cap.

they are coming from the backdoor to be in the flow with the wind, into the pub. Doubt engineers even thought of this.

But who will buy him a pint?

It is an ill wind that blows nobody good

It is a necessity to Andy.

Once again our hero proves how smart he really is. Where better to wait out a storm of such bad weather?

Exactly! There could be the storm of the century just rolling outside and people would still walk in the door of bars and restaurants. Then they look at the employees and say, I can’t believe they made you come in to work in weather like this!!

To paraphrase Simon Pegg, “Head to the Pub, and wait for this all to blow over.” ;)

Necessity isn’t the same for everyone.

Andy always winds up at the pub.

Just which side of this pub has the door? Sometimes it’s on the left, and sometimes it’s on the right!

Having lived in what we call the ‘near North’ for over half my life, snow storms and blizzards never stop me from getting to a bar. I was turfed a few times simply because the evening shift could not make it in as the local roads to the Beach were closed due to snow accumulation. After 4 or 5 hours in the bar, I left to see 18 " of snow had fell and everyone had closed up. the up side was my apartment was just 100 feet away across the street from the German bar I frequented.

The cap! Once again, Andy’s reputation has preceded him!

Welp, best make one for him Jack.

His cap announced his arrival, much to Jack’s dismay.

I’m sorry, but today’s strip seems to me to be not “strictly necessary.”

Given the wind direction, Jack may have a hard time throwing Andy out at closing time. When he does Andy is going to have a long crawl home.

Poor Jack is a victim of the storm. It’s an ill wind that blows nobody any good.

Has there ever been a pic of Andy without his hat?

That may look like Andy’s cap, but I don’t think it is. Andy’s a cap is secured to his head by comic strip magic.

Nothing will stop Andy from getting drunk.

My guess is that no one will recognize him without it.
