Wow! I remember when Kissinger was Mr. Political Stud! The Media sought his crinkly-voiced opinions constantly. He was always invited to important parties, and sometimes had attractive women on his arm.

I’m frankly amazed. Judging by the rest of the comics this week, I’d assumed the cartoonists all took an oath to forget about K and never mention him again.

Was it Kissinger who said of the US coup in Chile “Why should we allow them to have a communist government just because they voted for it”? Kind of summarized the Washington view of democracy in Latin America; they could freely have any government Washington gave them.
