Darryl you’ve had all the fun with family you could handle.

I just spent the afternoon with my nephew’s kids. I came home and hugged my cats.

Darryls friend there must not have kids!

I see why he still goes the office during the slowest time of the year

I miss when my girls were little at Christmas time. We had such a delight in watching them being excited for Santa to come to our house. My house is quiet now, but the memories are still alive.

Worst father ever.

I will NEVER understand the trope of “escaping from the kids”. My daughters are home from college and, while I truly do enjoy my job, I am not looking forward to going in today. I’d rather stay home with my girls for another day.

Augh! Come on, Darryl! It wasn’t that bad!

Hectic holidays are, I think, part of the reason the old joke about having to go back to work to get some rest, rings true.

I think it goes the other way too – my daughter (almost 3 now) was getting a bit frustrated with all the Christmas joy and an overly full stomach. I think being back at daycare today will be good for her.

Being on call for work which was a 24/7 operation while my daughters were growing up, never really allowed me to totally enjoy the Christmas holidays so that day seem to be just another day.

Man do you have that one right Darryl.

Family time with Zoe and Hammie, I’d be ready to go back to work too.

You have my permission to call in sick. Heartsick at the thought of seeing your daughters while at work.

I have to admit that sometimes when I go to work it’s a relief.

The colorist sure messed up Darryl’s mouth in the middle panel. I can’t unsee it. Aargh!

Reminds me of that line in the song “It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas” that goes “…and Mom and Dad can hardly wait for school to start again!”
