A fad some people thought would make them rich- it made them broke, instead

Values rise and fall with the fads rather than the tides.

Cover them back up for the next 1500 years, and they will be popular again.

Beijing customs disallowed my alpaca beanie baby

They thought it was a dolly llama.

My daughter loved those things. She got them as gifts for a while. Now the grandkids play with them.

My “pet rocks” destroyed my beanie babies and my baseball cards.

Only pirates from a country like Id would bury such “treasure”.

About 25 years ago when we had our first child my brother in law began buying our (eventual) three kids Beanie Babies with the message that, “In 25 years these things will pay their entire college tuition”. I laughed at him behind his back and my wife (his sister) scolded me for being rude. In the meantime, I bought all three kids into a 529 plan, which has paid off.

Before I went on my final naval deployment in the late 90s, a cousin requested I look for rare European Beanie Babies. I declined; I was in a warzone (Kosovo).
