There was an Asterix book called “Asterix and the Normans” in which the Norman ancestors of the Normans who would invade Gaul after the Romans left took the phrase “Fear gives you wings” literally. They didn’t know the meaning of fear but wanted to learn it in the belief that it would enable them to fly.
When Fred is drawn running fast, he looks more like a beagle. This is the fastest I have ever seen him to speak. (Does “fast” and “basset” even go together…I mean, except for dinner time. )

Whew! Now that you are safe, Fred, I would like to know why this bull got so furious about you. The bulls I met were rather calm creatures.

Here’s a way of referring to male bovine feces indirectly: I learned not to go barefoot in the cow pasture.

Like the British farmer told the hiker, “You can walk across my field for free, but the bull charges.”

I guess he didn’t beware. Oh, right, he’s a dog. Can’t read signs…(shoulda been able to smell it, though!). Great jump!
