I suppose much depends on which one gets to be the Party of the First Part, which one gets stuck as Party of the Second Part, and whether or not there’s a Sanity Clause.
It can be done but you have to plan your lives together every step of the way. It can be nullified if either set of parents decides to move away so you’re separated. (had that happen more than once with best friends in my life!) If you make it through high school you have to go to the same college. I guess you can go to separate colleges but then you’ll make other friends so best to go to the same college. If you go into the same profession that would help too. You have to decide together where to live. When you find the right girls to marry it would help if they got along so the 4 of you can hang out as married couples. Hopefully your kids will all get along. This kind of thing can work with the right planning. While you could always keep up with each other via social media it is not the same as being together in person.
Sadly, not all friendships are meant to last forever, regardless of how close you two are and soon enough, you two become like strangers. Take Jungle Cubs for example: All of the main animals from the Jungle Book used to be a tight-knit group of friends. In the second season (which is also a time skip), they slowly start going their separate ways and become more distant. While Baloo, Bagheera, Hathi and Winifred remain friends to some extent, the movie makes it clear that their friendships with Louie, Shere Khan, and Kaa are damaged beyond repair. Heck, even as a cub, Khan wasn’t so much their friend, as he was some antagonistic kid who tagged along. So take my advice boys, enjoy and cherish your friendship while it lasts. If it does last forever, consider yourselves the luckiest boys on Earth.
I was wondering what happened with Kevin’s father…at one time I remember him being a lazy good for nothing, and then he sort “disappeared”…He’s not listed anymore in the “Characters” section about this strip…
