Knew a professor of Applied Physics in grad school who had the students grade each others papers for exams. I didnât take that particular class but a student friend of mine said that he had to study twice as hard to be able to grade complex problems where there were multiple steps to a solution each with partial grading. It was an effective teaching method but I worked with that prof. and he was incredibly lazy.
Indoctrination is ALWAYS easier than Socratic education, you ALWAYS know the outcome, and if youâre good at it, the outcome is ALWAYS what you wantâŠ
Iâve been a life long student and always strive to learn from others (including the teachers) what I need to know. Not just to pass a test but to be useful and productive in my life.
After being awarded a graduate degree I decided it might be fun to try teaching beyond the on-the-job type of training I had already been providing for co-workers (and others).
In the academic classroom I discovered that I learned a LOT more as a teacher than I ever learned as a student. The questions that my students came up with would sometimes make me have to dig deep for reasonably correct answers. And along the way I discovered I also like teaching even more than just being the student 8^)

All principals and teachers should be guilty of putting ideas into kids heads. Please.

Good one, Frazz!

His concern is the non-educational staff is putting ideas into kids heads.

Yes, as the principle of education is to put ideas into our heads, and you are the head principal.

By âstaffâ he meant non-teachers.

Frazz is so much superior to a principal. He gets to read the graffiti in the girlsâ bathrooms, after all!

I vote âyesâ. Whether he thinks of it this way or not, Frazz is a Zen master. Much of the time, you have to figure it out for yourself.

Thatâs what school is all about! Question is, WHICH ideas are they putting in their heads? Studying is a good one!
