    Aha! Some location data! They must be in the north tropical zone, but some distance north of the equator (depending on how low the North Star actually was; the altitude of Polaris is equal to your latitude).

    Yep. Really hard to shift a sailing ship into Reverse.

    That’s why I don’t trust any vehicle without an engine, steering wheel, and brakes (sailboats, skis, horses … ) :-)
