President Reagan announced a solution on August 11, 1984: ""My fellow Americans, Iâm pleased to tell you today that Iâve signed legislation that will eliminate poverty forever. We begin bombing poor people in five minutes."
Raising taxes on the rich wonât solve that problem on its own. How will that money be spent is the larger issue. Universal basic income seems like the way to go. Make a commitment on a policy directive and then move forward on the rest. Otherwise it will just be a large pot of money that will be redirected to pet projects and outright corruption.
GotchaâŠraise taxes on the rich by 1% to give them the excuse to raise all prices on things that non-rich people buy by 3% and reap the extra profits.
never understood that argument about how taxing the rich wonât help. Theyâve been given break after break, how much are they actually taxed now? It has to be a very very small percentage, if theyâre taxed at all. And why are we always told that âit will take a sacrifice from all Americansâ when they make no sacrifice at all?

Ah-hahaha. I got a solution to poverty, and it involves some rope, a couple of stakes, and LOTS of fire.

I thought this was supposed to be satire, not reality.

Easiest solution to Medicare funding crisis, have everyone be taxed on all their income (just like the janitor and school teacher).

The Invisible Hand of the Marketplace looks really good to the people whoâve cornered the market.

Tax CEOs 50X what their employees are taxed. Balancing the fact they âearnâ 50X the average employeeâs salary.
