I use the trick of writing a list and sticking to it. It works for me, also because I hate going to the supermarket.

And bigger than his wallet!

We do pickup or delivery. Saves lots of money.

I like to use the smaller “Granny” carts as I call them, so I never buy a whole lot when I grocery shop.

Me today, shopping day..I felt rich, I bought Oat Milk….WHY!

Well, it’s quite obvious to me that you like to eat.

You shouldn’t shop either when you’re hungry or when you’ve just ate and you’re full. With the former, you’ll buy too much because everything looks good. With the latter nothing looks good and you may not buy what you need.

Just means less time at the buffet.

Don’t you pack your bags as you go down the aisles? Saves time when you pay…

Not to mention your wallet!

If my eyes were bigger than my stomach, I would look like a fly!

When you start reading the labels and figure out what they put into stuff, there isn’t a lot of food that’s actually edible.

My mother would always say never food shop when you’re hungry.

LOL! That looks like he’s shopping at Costco….who could resist?

Always eat before embarking on a trip to the grocery store! ☺️☺️☺️

I often walk to local supermarket as only about 20 minutes walk, carrying the stuff home focuses you on want you need

Never go grocery shopping while hungry

Buying that much for three and a lot of it will spoil and get thrown out. Try buying just what you need two or three times a week.

Been there – Done that Also Brutus. Grocery Stores are now adding over size carts for the Plus size shoppers like us. Double Stuffed Oreos – on sale. Yeah baby.

I’m with Brutus. I can go to the grocery store to get the 2 or 3 items on my list and by the time I’m finished, I’ve bought more than what I was after, usually because I remember other things we needed. My wife does want me to stay out of the cookie aisle though…

Eat before you shop and save hundreds of $ (or L or e).

five items, normal size, no bulk, basically ingredients for two basic meals for two people. one snack(candy bar) $43.56 I checked the list. I checked the items. last year, summer time, I know it was around $35. I am positive. “NO JOKE”. as a resident of the USA likes to say. but on a FIXED income, it is a joke. I’d “comment” more but I don’t want to hurt anybody’s feelings. ಠ▃ಠ

I normally do not comment about trips I take to expensive places, but I did go to a grocery store over the weekend.

My cart looks like that, but I only do groceries once a month.

“Never send a man to do a woman’s job” but I do believe the results and bottom line expenditures would be aproximately the same if Gladys did it. Se la vie…..

Wonderful play on words! Although on the buffet side I am pretty confident Brutus can put away whatever he piles on his plate. Unless of course Gladys or Mommy Dearest steal it off his plate, which I can easily envision.

Look at all that food for Gladys to ruin.

Sure cuts down on impulse buying!

They are lucky to be able to afford that many groceries at once.

Just wait till you’re my age, Brutus. Then there won’t so much in your cart because of all the things you forgot to pick up.

Are you kidding? If your items fully cover even a single layer in your cart, your wallet might just barely get you through the checkout.

If I ever remarry, I hope it’s to someone who enjoys grocery shopping. I want to stay home and then complain that there is nothing to eat in the house. It’s my turn. Actually, I would not complain and would be grateful. I very much do not enjoy grocery shopping.

I learned that lesson years ago as a young bachelor. If you go grocery shopping hungry, you will overspend every time.
