When I lived on a yacht back in the 1980’s you would see a lot of the boxes ashes came in washed up on beaches, after the ashes were scattered the boxes were dumped. Only just realised I should have reported them for littering.
Last week, I was in the local library and there was a white board available for people to write on. The top of the board said “It’s time for spring cleaning, but what is one thing you could never throw out?” People put their responses on the board. One was “Grandpa’s urn.”
The ancient Romans preferred cremation. They’d put their ashes in urns, beautiful urns. They were so beautiful that 18 centuries later, people would dig the urns up, dump out the ashes, and take the urns home. Moral: get buried in something ugly.
That’s not as silly as it sounds. A lot of “green” places are going for quickly biodegradable methods, like caskets that are essentially cardboard.

A paper bag works for me. It’ll hold the ashes nicely and after I’m dumped, decompose in the landfill.

Since I already made an ash of myself…I’ll fit right in…the bag.

When I pass, hope it’s on a boat at sea. Just toss my remains overboard.

Don’t like the idea of people staring at me. Box it is.

When I die I want to have my ashes tossed from the top of the Empire State Building. Hundreds of people will be bound to shed a tear.

There is an option that has been gaining popularity: The wrap you in a sheet, stick you in the ground and plant a tree in your face.
The tree needs the fertilizer.
