Our second cat did that. He not only got into them, he destroyed things. He was a chewer. We had to keep all bread and roll packages in the nuker. I had baby locks everywhere. We had to put the trash can in the spare bathroom. (He chewed the plastic lining). We had to put cord covers on all cords. He got into the armoire and ATE Brad’s t-shirts. He ate earplugs. Brad was in the Navy and worked on jets and helos and brought them home in his pockets when he forgot to empty them at work. My purse was kept in the spare bathroom. A friend visited one day and I TOLD her to put her good, leather briefcase in the bathroom. She didn’t. When we got back from dinner, Bucky had chewed the handle. That cost me some money. Bucky had two surgeries to remove things. He spent a LOT of nights at the vet office after getting castor liver oil (or something) to help pass what he swallowed. We had baby locks on everything. The vet called him a garbage can cat. We got him at about 3 weeks. When I picked him up, we went straight to the vet and he said he was too young to be away from his mama so I had to bottle feed him. For all of his misdeeds, I loved him SO much! This was in the mid 1980s and I still think about him. That was in the San Diego condo., Now, one of our current cats, Blackjack (he looks like Bucky -solid black with big yellow eyes) gets into drawers but doesn’t eat stuff. The kitchen has all big drawers and he pulls them open. And, he brother watches. I guess he’s the look out.In the room where the fosters go, there is a bifold door. Blackjack wants in there to eat the kitten food. I put a baby lock on it, He still tries, bless his little heart. He’s going to to surprised soon, thought. The cabinet maker who did the kitchen just did both bathrooms -no more under counter cabinets. They are all big drawers. And, now he’s building a custom door for that closet. It will have a real knob and be half frosted glass with a kitty design.
Yeah, Sebastian said that there was to be no closed doors in this apartment. Baby locks on the cabinet under the sink. He was okay with the pan one. Didn’t have to do that with the bathroom one, though he did try to open it.
I had to ‘reengineer" the doors to my bathroom sink cabinet because Sara was so good at opening them. And there be dragons in there! Funny thing is, my kitchen cabinets do not have even a closure but they leave those alone! I also don’t store any chemicals that can harm the girls under those. And my new stove’s knobs are kitty safe. You have to push down on them and then turn them.

We need to do the same. I hear thumping, and it’s Monroe opening cabinets.

Keep it up, Mittens. She will give in sooner or later.

Angie, remember that cats have more ways of showing their feelings than just by using emojis. Bad ways.

Oh, Mittens, cupboard innards aren’t for cats.

Oh Mitty, your mama loves you and locked the cabinets to keep you safe <3

I don’t think I’ve ever seen The Mittens use an emoji before.

My cat asks to have a cabinet open. I open it, she does an inspection and everybody’s happy. :)

My cat never bothers anything she shouldn’t. The dog, however…
