We got a giant spring cleaning this afternoon: Squall line moved through and dropped 5mm hail and rain with gusting wind and some lighting. Would have been a lot of fun if we weren’t trying to run errands. As soon as we go home the sun came out.
Jewish families clean house before Passover. Much of the kitchen needs to be scrubbed or replaced, and the house combed for even crumbs of forbidden foods. I wonder if that’s where “spring cleaning” started.
Everyone needs an occasional outlet for frustration. A ‘sounding board’ that listens but doesn’t try to argue or explain, just absorbs. Kid picked a good one.
Trust me on this: keeping the place tidy through the winter months does not remove the “need” for spring cleaning. Those invisible dirt molecules still need to be removed.
Reminds me of the old joke about how the Lone Ranger and Tonto were holed up in the rocks, surrounded by hostile Indians and just about out of ammo. “Well, looks like we may have reached the end of the line this time, old buddy.” “What you mean WE, white man?”

I hope this isn’t going to last all Spring.

You are amassing things to yell ’Why, in my day… !" when the time comes.
The first time I did it I chuckled a bit to myself, and apologized.

“If WE kept the place tidy”

why in may day we had to walk 10 miles to school, in 6 feet of snow, uphill … both ways, and it was 100 degrees out!!!
