I remember the 2000 California energy crisis. I spoke to a client of the company I worked for in 2000. He blamed it on the environmentalists for not allowing more power plants to be built. As it turned out, it was a scam run by Enron to increase rates and force California to permit more plants.

Thank God we (and much of the world) are not so dependent on fossil fuels as we used to be. Anyway, Sarah Palin would have gunned that dude down like she does with the animals she hunts (the major reason I detest her!).

Let’s get $ and religion out of politics!

And just why is it that the refineries can raise the price of gas , without any explanation and take forever to ?? maybe ?? lower it ?

We can’t possibly run out of fossil fuels, right? God will put more in the ground if we just pray hard enough (and maybe get rid of all those people I- I mean, He hates)!

Again, deja vu all over again. Doonesbury seemed to see the truth in two generations..

He was Sec Interior under the elder Bush, never made it back in. Gail Norton was Sec Interior from 2001 till 2006. Interesting how Doonesbury wants to keep staying stuck in the period of the tech bubble forever and ever. It’s almost likes something comes next which they don’t want to revisit. What could it be, hmmm ;-) Happy Tuesday Folks !

We lived in California during an energy crisis. We had rolling brownouts all over the Monterey Bay area. They were manufactured crisis government by corporate profit taking and mismanagement and not lack of resources.

yees it was a perfect example of the problem of deregulation.

Even in an era of hypocrites, there were a lot of standouts.

remember Enron had a bunch of "subsidiaries that were Star Wars based; Jedi Drilling, Skywalker Exploration (I think) and something with Solo . We used to see the trucks all over south Texas and then, poof no more. I was refinery and pipeline trash for 38 years, had a hard rule of NO energy investments, too much fluctuation.

Huh-huh, he said “Probe”. Like an ETHICS probe, or what?

And thanks to Governor Schwarzenegger I believe CA didn’t get the money back they had been cheated out of!
