What I did: Got much better views of the eclipse on the TV and my news feed than I could possibly have gotten even if I’d migrated to the path of totality AND lucked out on the weather. I even got to see a great picture from space!
I have to laugh at the conspiracy stuff – we really haven’t come all that far from ancient people fearing the dragon was going to eat the sun and had to be placated so as not to.
How much sunburn can you possibly gather staring up at the sky (with a mostly occluded sun most of the time) for an hour at most.
Or is this part of that anti-science conspiracy theory that the radiation spiked when the moon was blocking the entirety of the light (radiation) coming from the sun?
We had clear skies and were able to get to an area within totality. It was worth it! I would do it again. Though we were in a traffic nightmare at a bottleneck merge. We went 2 1/2 miles in two hours! This turned a one and a half hour drive (in normal traffic) into six hours to get back home. Apparently we were lucky, there are news reports of people who were in that same traffic for over twelve hours! I also heard reports that 22,000 more cars than were expected traveled to our small state of NH.

It was cloudy where I live.

Just goes to show how scientifically uninformed we are when we have to go gaup at a Solar eclipse not unlike people hundreds of years ago did.

Have the magats started complaining that “the Rapture” was clearly rigged?

The day simply dimmed for time. Felt the need for a nap.

Despite the best laid plans, I didn’t make it to Indianapolis. Watched it here in SE WI at a local park. It was fine. Then I rode my bike home.

In my south-central Indiana alfalfa field, conditions were essentially perfect. Nice solar flare near the bottom at totality.
