But no-one ever quibbles when an exec who has nearly bankrupted a company gets a $30-million ’golden parachute, after making Thousands of dollars per hour while in harness.

After taxes, do you think you could live on about $2000 a month in California?

Minimum wage will never be a living wage – minimum wage jobs are for teenagers, retirees and others who want supplemental income.

That isn’t going to happen in those red states that require federal subsistence for their working poor to live below the poverty line with the worst health and quality of life in the country.

BS! That comes to $38,400/year: out of which must come FICA, taxes, food, medical care, shelter (rent). You’re not going to be able to own a home on that, unless you get a windfall if a close relative dies. (My wife and I were working poor when my grandmother passed and left us enough to assume an inexpensive mortgage on a small house.). And you have to figure in the area in which you work. Do you need a car to commute?

Another RW talking point that is neither true nor funny

“According to data from the California Association of Realtors (CAR), existing single family homes sold for a median of $859,800 in August 2023, compared to $834,740 in August 2022. That’s a 3 percent increase, and it’s more than double the national median of $407,100.”

So yeah, it costs more to live in California.

Boomers are the absolute worst. They could afford a house and family on a single income but they resent younger generations wanting a living wage.

B-S. When it was instituted the idea was for it to be the minimum income for one person to earn to support a family of four. Lot’s of arguments otherwise lately, all wrong. Look it up in original statements, not the propoganda from fox and others of the sort, not that MSNBC is much better.

and you’ll see that type of wage in areas with a higher cost of living, so it all balances out…(or it doesn’t balance out, I should say!)
