Chez, Chez and Chez. Terribly frustrating day yesterday. The shelter has been horrible with communications the entire month I have been attempting to adopt Murphy, so I was pleasantly surprised to receive an answer to my email sent yesterday morning stating that I was on my first leg of a 350 mile trip to adopt him and to please let me know if his availability changed. I was assured he would be at the shelter and had no adoption appointment scheduled. After 3 hours on the road they called and told me NOT to come, that he had been in isolation for 2 days for kennel cough plus someone else had had an appointment to meet him and would have first choice once he was out of isolation. I was livid and crying at the same time and let them know how maddening it is that most of my emails and FB inquires had not been answered, and my attempts to set up an appointment for him had not gone through their system. His profile has still not been updated to show he is currently unavailable. 250 mile round trip back home for nothing. Similar stories over and over again from people attempting to adopt, so many roadblocks. After my Annie died, I nearly gave up on the rescues and was considering backyard breeders, against my better judgement, on Craigslist who charge a “rehoming fee” when I was contacted by a foster about Fred. I packed my car immediately and drove 4 hours into LA to a legitimate foster and came home with my best boy.
Got back a few hours ago. It took a full hour to get from the Phoenix airport to the road thru Wickenburg. And, this was at 3:30 AM. There was construction everywhere in the Phoenix and Scottsdale areas. And, through the gorge coming up here. No reason, either. No accidents, nothing. Anyway, on my second load of laundry, everything it put away and the truck is clean.
It’s bad enough that Chesney disses Annie. Why do the other cats have to join in badmouthing her? I highly doubt Oliver is one one the kitties voting “aye.” He gets along with pretty much everybody, including dogs. On another note, saw four robins while out walking today.
