See, that’s what happens when you render animation on a PowerPC G3. Move up to a G4 or G5 Quad and you’ll get several dozen frames completed in half the time.
My notebook computer was acting a bit “wonky” for a few weeks. I did a system diagnostic and checked for updates to no avail. I had an ant problem where I kept it and I think I actually had computer “bugs” that got in it. I sprayed and set traps and the problem mysteriously vanished.
When I worked as a Customer Engineer (mainframe and other devices repair and install) for IBM, the latest baud rate we all celebrated was on a 2703 at 300 baud.
I won a copy of Corel Draw v7, it barely loaded on my wimpy eMachine running W-95, so I can really relate to Jason here! Hit render and go make dinner, have dinner, clean dishes, and come back to see if it was finished. Good times.

The Far Side artist, Gary Larson, occasionally drew bugs. Maybe this is where he got his ideas from.

I’ve used CAD systems that were that slow! Blastedly frustrating, but that’s all that was available at the time!

90 minutes times 60 seconds per minute times 24 frames per second is 129,600 frames. At this rate, it will take decades to finish his movie.

Yor parents need to splurge on a decent setup, Jason.

To be fair, Dreamworks and Pixar uses more powerful computers.

Some comics don’t age well.

Jason rendered it helpless.

It is impressive how much computing power (or, failing that, time) it takes to render animation.

Jason just started shaving, and he cut his fingernails too

This must be the early days of dial up internet. Those were weird times where you tied up your phone line and there were no iPhones yet

What creative types want to do is typically 2_3 generations ahead of where the technology is currently

Shame Foxtrot doesn’t do daily long story arcs anymore. Would love to see what Jason would do with today’s A.I. software.

I’m surprised he doesn’t have long hair and a long beard.
