Evidently trump is on record saying anyone with even a possible criminal record could not stand for the presidency. Mind, he was talking about Hillary at the time so totally different.
The founding fathers couldn’t consider everything. I imagine that if someone had suggested that criminal history be a disqualifying factor for public office, especially the Presidency, the others would have told them that they had things that could actually happen to talk about and that if the people ever were stupid enough to consider electing a convicted felon, all hope was lost anyway.
Donald Trump offered oil executives the reversal of some of President Joe Biden’s climate policies upon the former president’s reelection in exchange for campaign contributions, specifically $1 Biillion dollars.
The chairs of the Senate Finance and Budget committees announced in a joint statement Thursday that they have sent letters to nine oil companies, including ExxonMobile and Chevron, asking for additional information related to a fundraiser event where Trump allegedly sought $1 billion in campaign contributions in return for promises of policy changes to benefit their companies.
That is the “quid pro quo” that is illegal. The way this is supposed to work is that the candidate puts out statements of what he intends to do and people donate based on liking or disliking what he says. It’s a simple rule, and whether the donation is a bribe or not is mostly in the mind of the donor. Trump, instead, announced it at a meeting of oil execs.
I don’t know how the GOP allowed this to happen. They should know campaign rules better than I do. Trump is either too stupid to understand the rules, or he has lived so long with the notion that rules don’t apply to him that he is simply unable to realize that they do. This is why we was guilty of 34 legal violations, and why he seems to be unable to stop behaving illegally, and worse yet, unable to at least stop doing it on tape.
Ah, the old what-if game. Children love playing that game. We could turn that around 180 degrees and play too, but it is better to focus on the BS that this administration has brought on this country and around the world in 3 short years.
A MAGA wouldn’t be voting for Biden to begin with regardless, need to ask a Biden supporter that same question and see what they say… They would probably say “yes, better then the alternative”.
Well, they denied the results of the 2016 election and there was an attack in Washington DC during President Trump’s term by BLM, but we cannot talk about that.
Furthermore, I would like one single solitary piece of evidence that these people acted on his authority.
And if we are going to talk about censored information, let us talk about Twitter and Hunter’s laptop.
Well, I guess that makes you the “weak” atomic force, 91.
A) Who “denied the results of the 2016 election”? Bemoaned, yeah. Predicted dire economic and world political consequences (most of which were evinced) sure. But the election that year went to the party that did the best job of gerrymandering. Republicans could have nominated Jabba the Hutt (who has a real tan and bears more than a passing resemblance to their candidate) and he would have won. We then would have had a President with more empathy and brains, if the same ethics. And, if I may point out the obvious, President 44 moved out promptly on Jan 20, 2017, without anyone breaking any Capitol windows.
B) You certainly may talk about the event in Washington that was not an attack until Generalissimo Shitzenpantz gathered an armed mob on the White House lawn, told them that they would have to FIGHT for their (non-existent) “rights”, and they promptly went down the street and did exactly that. They were not enlisted soldiers, so the “authority” was not from any chain of command, any more than your spending Friday night at the bar is on the “authority” of your wife, so she can have her book club over. Trump could have used his bully-pulpit to calm them down and prevent it, but that was not what he wanted and planned for. He knew that his low-IQ sheeple were armed, and he even tried to join in the mayhem he unleashed.
C) You may NOT attempt to false-equivalence the brutal police response to the earlier peaceful BLM demonstration, to the limpid resistance to the deadly attack on the Capitol. That just makes you look like a tool.
D) Feel free to flog Twitter (I’m not a fan of it myself and refuse to use it) as long as you also inveigh against “TruthSocial” as its equally evil BizarroWorld twin. And the number of actual facts that have come out about the contents of Hunter’s laptop are the “eye of newt” (you know how small a mustard seed is, right?) in that Republican witches’ brew.

Let’s say if Biden was being treated like Trump was from day one of his office, would you let them get by with that?
