It’s a good thing they aren’t older, or they might get ideas on fun things to do.

You won’t enjoy summer if you stay shut up at home the whole day.

Farm boy here, summers were great, fall even better. Loved the smells of hay and esp chopped corn

Farm boy here in my youth. Summers were the worse. Tobacco cropping and barning. 3:30am till dark 5 days a week and 12 hours on Saturday. Emptying Barns and then filling back up. Farming was 365 days of work. Graduated at 16 and left home at 17 for welding job 100 miles from home and at 18 Air Force. Keep that hay. Itching and scratching all day hay baling. Started with mules/horses till we got a tractor. Then two tractors and sold mules. Only work I ever hated was farming 120 acres. Back breaking and all dependent upon the weather. Wet or dry lose all. Needed Goldilocks weather. Now one man can farm 2 thousand acres where once took several people farming 100 acres. Farming used to be about 11% of USA workforce And I think about 1% now.

I was never bored: bike riding on the sunny days, and books for reading on the rainy days.

I was one of 8 growing up. I’d hear a bother or a sister complain of boredom now and then. I had my music, birding, and nature to keep me busy. No such thing as screen-time except for Saturday cartoons, The Brady Bunch and Partridge Family. Good days…

Appreciate boredom while you can, for there are chores on the horizon.

This is probably why many churches had the VBS programs 2 weeks into Summer. As, more families began going on long trips at the start of Summer, churches’ VBS programs were held in August, just before the start of school.

The only days I could have been bored was on rainy days. But we had plenty of board games, and I had my Legos. Otherwise, I would have been playing baseball, football or street hockey. Or I could have gone off on my bike.

Kids claiming they are bored really winds me up. They have so much they can do these days that we didn’t have as kids, yet we found things to do (and still do). The ability to entertain themselves seems to have been lost. They have to be spoon fed with video games, TV and social media. Sad really.

go play outside… until it’s so dark not even a flashlight can light up your path… if that’s even possible. yeah, my parents weren’t too thrilled about us being home for summer vacation either. :j

If the kids are bored get out the Math Workbooks and they will get unbored in a double quick hurry.

The only times I was ever bored in the summer were when I was ill or injured and couldn’t do anything.

I don’t recall being overly bored in the summer when I was a kid because I had several good friends with with whom I always hung out and found something to do. Usually mischief! With all of today’s electronic distractions it’s hard to figure out how kids can be bored.

Kids these days just don’t know how to have fun. Or has fun been legislated out of their lives to protect them from injury.

I don’t think I ever have been bored. My child once said she was bored, and I took her upstairs and showed her how to clean a bathroom. She never said it again and became a very good self-starter. She could play with a cardboard box or the dog, if nothing else. Imaginations should be exercised regularly.
