Interesting. My experience is that tinkering is more expensive.

As a young man many years ago, I was told ‘’Carburetor" was French for ’’Don’t f… with it!" I still enjoy tinkering on my cars, motorcycles, and tractors. Good for the mental health.Happy July 4th. to those of us in the States……although I think I’ll go to Canada for lunch today.

A neighbour of ours had a really good motorbike. One day he decided to have a go a skimming out the cylinders to give it a larger engine. To be fair, he knew what he was doing, but you really need specialist kit for something like that. Needless to say, it didn’t go as well as he’d hoped. “Leave alone” would have saved him a lot of wonga.

Hey! I didn’t need you to rearrange all the parts, I just needed you to framinize the glominator!

… or is it glominize the framinator? I get those mixed up!

Fix it after you’ve tried to do it yourself at home: $500.

But the tinkering can last for hours and can really add up. That’s how they get you!

It should get much better gas mileage, now that he’s removed all those spare parts.

After months of “mystery” tinkering to no avail the mechanic bought my Dodge Aspen. Last I heard he was being fitted for a strait jacket. :)
