A long long time ago, I took First Aid, and I remember being taught that it is difficult/impossible to feel the pulse when the wrist is bent back as shown, you need to bend the wrist forward instead. I wonder if they still say that?
A number of years back I was working and my chores took me to a local hospital ER. One of the patients stuck in a hallway (it was a stinking busy night, so non-urgent patients were oft relegated to hallways to free up cubicle space for sick and injured folks) was being monitored for some kind of cardiac anomaly. He was a firefighter – he still had his uni shirt on, undone to accomodate the monitor leads – so he had a very minimal knowledge of what the squiggly lines on his monitor might have meant, and knew that the flat line currently displayed, along with that loud and urgent beeping sound should be a bad thing…he began hollering for help and then proceeded to attempt CPR on himself, firmly convinced he was dying…until one of the Paramedics pointed out the leads that had fallen off his chest…

The nurse should have her right hand on the bed frame, not the guy’s wrist.

Ah, yes. The old “give the nurse the fake hand for the pulse” routine.
