When I was a teacher I took the note and grinned and said,âOh, that is really interesting!â and put it in my pocket. The whole class got excited and kids kept asking, âWhat did she say? What did she say?â.
I think I was in 8th grade when the teacher picked up a note from one girl to another and read it but it didnât say anything interesting. Just âAre we walking home together after school?â Big deal. Nowadays the kids would be texting unless the teachers collected all the phones before class.
I canât recall anytime of notes being passed in class or especially anyone getting caught. The only happenstance similar was when a classmate was caught playing with âtoy soldiersâ and the teacher confiscated them. PSâhe never got them back ! ! !
One day in maybe 5th grade my mind had been wandering and suddenly I realized everyone in the class was laughing except the teacher and me. The teacher very upset about something and announced that everyone in the class would be staying after school (due to whatever the laughing was about). The teacher then looked around the classroom and said that instead everyone in a specific section of the classroom had to stay â I was in that section. She then changed it after looking around some more â everyone in that section had to stay â except me! She had apparently had seen I was not laughing and not realizing it was due to my not paying attention, thought it was because I was behaving. I am sure that I had been paying attention I would have been laughing also!
That was rather cruel towards Robin and Cameron, if what I remember from my own middle school still holds. And I mean the behaviour of the teacher here.
