Is the crane operator, or the termites gonna get Walt first??
- – - -
A full classics update has been arranged for the 25th:
Phyllis tosses out some junk – which is to say any knick knack or loose item which isn’t hers. Walt and Skeezix begin salvage operations.
I’m sure Stan Lynde didn’t mean to hearken back to some 10½ years earlier, at the dawn of what started as a gag-oriented Western strip in 1958, but it sorta turned out that way. (The strip ran just short of 23 years, so we’re closing in on the halfway point of our look back.)
In any case, we’re establishing that Rick has no jurisdiction in this dispute between Jessie Bell and the ranchers down in the valley. Which is kinda making a punk out of your hero, but I suspect we’re setting up this story for Hipshot to deal with.
Cigars for women, I wonder how that might have played out in actual 1949. Again, Brenda is meddling instead of reporting – in what should be a series of juicy stories to file on Puffmore, the Ally Khat and sidebars about some members of his harem.
Nina isn’t making much progress with Joel and Rufus – it’s probably enough to drive a woman to drink.
Aw, Gertie will step in at the last minute and prevent that “dinosaur” from eating her patient! And then, the workmen will grumble because that pest won’t stop bugging them.

Looks like Walt is about to go on some type of Mr. Magoo ride.

Will this be Walt’s demise?

Great shades of the arc about opening Pert’s crypt in search of hidden money. Walt was swinging from a crane as I recall.
Well, he was probably 20 years younger then.
