It would never even get off the ground. Why? Because he’ll drink all the coffee before anyone else could even taste it!

For years, Juan Valdez and his donkey tried to make it in the coffee business in Colombia, I think he gave up and instead became a drug lord using “mules”.

His own coffee company? Didn’t Al Pacino make a movie about that? “Say hello to my leetle gurl!!”

He might have a chance if he partnered with someone that knows how to run a business.

Sure, anyone can start a coffee company. Everyone has. How will you undercut them?

Last time he ‘worked’ for a coffee company, he almost put it out of business.

Prediction: Adam does not do any research, have any strategy, figure anything out, or demonstrate any smarts. He nearly puts the family in the poor house until Laura saves the day by turning it into flourishing coffee house overnight, all while raising 3 children (and Adam) and working a full time job.

When my husband was burned out at work (he was director a day school/day mental health counseling program for children who if they could not get by in this program would be transferred to residential treatment program), I suggested he take a leave of absence with an eye towards quitting his job (in his mid 50s).

I had figured by the end of the leave he would be going crazy from nothing to do, but was prepared (financially at least) if he did quit – we would get by. So I became the main support (and I was not making even half what he was). I figured 6 months at home with no place to go and he would be going crazy and ready to go back.

It has been over 15 years since that leave started. He quit when it was time to go back. Things have not gone as either version of the plan – as we had an idea for an alternative income source – our crafts business, and did not take into account the fact that I was/am on the end of a (literally) dying accounting practice and all but 5 clients would die.

It is not easy for someone to deal with being burned out and one has to do what one has to do to get by – luckily one of us is a saver not a spender (me) which helps a good deal.
