April wants to keep the gum bubble and then somehow it starts walking around the top of the check of drawers, judging from the motion lines around it in the last panel.
Panel 8 Elizabeth was portrayed by the comic strip actress that normally plays the part of Moira Kinney. There is no mistaking that mouth and jawline. I suppose the real Elizabeth needed some time off in that panel.
Anybody see any of those coin operated bubble gum dispensers around anymore? With today’s super runaway inflation rate those machines likely only take nothing less than a bit coin!
I remember my cousins teaching me to blow gum bubbles when I was about April’s age. I didn’t save any of the bubbles but I think I swallowed gum before I got the hang of it.
This kinda reminds me of the time my dad tried teaching me to whistle a tune. I can’t imagine how frustrating it is to teach something like that. I can remember trying for a very long time until I was able to get the first noise that sounded anything like a whistle outta my mouth. My mother wasn’t as thrilled as I was. I eventually learned and still enjoy whistling a tune while I’m working.

I was never able to blow bubbles with bubble gum. But it sure tasted good—and there were nifty baseball cards, too!

Bubblegum works much better as a musical genre than it does as something you chew.

Another stupid “April“ comic… I swear to God, she’s just the “Cousin Oliver“ of the comics world.

This is so cute, until the last panel ruins it!

If she wanted to keep working on her bubbles, why don’t she just get a fresh piece of gum instead of using a used one? Sick!

Does your chewing gum lose its flavor
on the bedpost overnight?
If your mother says don’t chew it,
Do you swallow it in spite?
Can you catch it on your tonsils,
Can you heave it left & right?
Does your chewing gum lose its flavor
on the bedpost overnight?
