Are there any restrictions on this? Like, rules about what constitutes a “book.” Could a kid pick “The Sneetches”? The book of the Prophet Obadiah? “Truly Tasteless Jokes II”?
I’ve had a couple of “genius” ideas that worked for me over the years that came to me in a flash…though I didn’t recognize it at the time. I need that light bulb thing to appear over my head when something like that happens so I catch on to the fact that I have a good idea brewing and need to put it in action!
My eighth grade English teacher promised a chocolate doughnut to the person who read the most books in a given period of time. I didn’t count anything like picture books, but I did read some more simple novels than I might have done otherwise. Apparently some others were doing the same – because our teacher, while happy about our reading, did mention that we weren’t all reading books of good quality. I won the doughnut – but the next day, Mrs. Forbes came in with 25 copies of Great Expectations.
@DAREAL, And a good thing is that I disagree with you, I first read the book "The Pillars Of The Heart’ (In Spanish too) By Ken Follett and while reading it I was thinking this “Someone better make a movie about this book” And then the movie came to be, I did watched the movie, and a re read the book again, (this time in English I loved both of them and I still have them both the movie and the book in English, So, there we are now

Unfortunately, I’d have to agree that it’s too simple to be brilliant.
Most students “cheat” the system, and choose books which have a movie made after them, and just watch that instead.

If it works, does it matter?

Complicated is easy. Simple is very, very hard.

I STILL say: Have them read “Catcher in the Rye.” Nearly 80 years on, and a sure mind-blower for many!! Great read, in any case!
