As a kid some 50 years ago I collected some dozen bottle caps that looked like that metal cap before they were replaced by the plastic twist off caps. How long ago was that, when you had to carry a bottle cap opener in your pocket? They were usually attached to a pocket Swiss Army Knife.
Bitcoin like anything else only made people rich that got in on day one. You buy for pennies and sell for dollars, that is the way most of the rich got rich. Now you can just walk into a country and say I am here with my family so TAKE CARE OF US!
That bottle cap is not at all like Bitcoin. That cap is real and tangible. You can touch it and feel it. Bitcoin is nothing more than a ledger entry in a computer somewhere. There is absolutely nothing of value backing it up. If it goes bust, unlike a company and its stock, there is nothing to liquidate in order to recover some of your money.
The bottle cap reminded me of a very old Scrooge McDuck comic book by Carl Barks titled “Tralla La”, based on Shangri-La. Uncle Scrooge #6, June 1954. A simple bottle cap threatens the very existence of the valley paradise. There is a Youtube video that shows every panel of this comic book if you are interested. Don Rosa did a sequel comic book titled “Return to Xanadu”.
As a retired financial professional, I must say that the replies to this ’toon represent the best and most accurate explanation of Bitcoin that I have seen. Caveat Emptor.
And today’s news is reporting on people getting scammed after buying “gold” with their savings, only to find out that is was never purchased and their money is gone, with all the company officers.

I would be more impressed with the ant that only had a part of a bottle cap.

Bitcoin is very much resl. I bought it at 11k during the pandemic then sold it at 50k, still during the pandemic. Paid off my student loan.

Bitcoin is easy to understand. Somebody tells you if you give them your money you will become rich. Then they take your money and…. That’s it.
