Well time to clean out the garden anyway. It’s winding down due to the heat and the high water bill.

Other than that movie my only experience with ratatouille is that someone deep in Star Trek keeps weaving it into virtually all the various iterations of that series.

How is it that ratatouille worked its way into the American lexicon of dining? It’s not like it was ever a side to mom’s weekly meatloaf back in the day.

Doesn’t she need to warm it up? I don’t think ratatouille tastes nice cold? Or does it?

Question: How many rats do you need to make 8 servings of ratatouille?

I make enough food at once for several meals, it’s convenient.

My ancestry is ‘Muskrat French.’ They ate muskratatouille.

Neither of them seems particularly thrilled about this dish. I don’t know about you, Arlo, and I don’t care if I hurt Janis’ feelings, but I’m not going to put anything in my mouth that causes such a feeling of “blech!”

My mom was a great cook, but when it was liver and onions night, I suddenly lost my appetite.

I need to make a nice batch of that and freeze it in individual portions. It’s tasty.

PlanOvers. I almost always make double and freeze for days I am not well enough to cook. Hubby can’t cook but he can rewarm in the oven or microwave.

At least I see there are versions where the vegetables are just stirred together. That business of arranging all those slices in a pretty spiral is too OCD even for me!

Ratatouille is a regional dish, as in different regions have different styles of making it.

For some it’s thin sliced veggies in a casserole, others chop them and make a stew. It appears to be eaten both hot and cold.

So, anyone can just throw mixes veggies in a pan and call it ratatouille.
