ā€œAppropriateā€ = what parents and teachers together are free to assign without bookburners censoring their choices.

Heh, heh. Caufield is one clever kid. I bet he read his dadā€™s textbooks as a his parents put on cartoons.

ā€œAppropriate ā€œ as in most likely to elicit desired reaction from fellow students.

Too many choicesā€¦ Definitely do not report on ā€œStrip Teaseā€ ā€¦

He should show some sense and avoid bringing parental wrath down on the school by choosing one of Hiaasenā€™s juveniles..

I think Jef even makes a cameo appearance in Star Island as a paramedic.

No amount of definition will help you to decide whatā€™s appropriate. Itā€™s a matter of judgement.

Ok, hereā€™s my thought: Frazz stating some books were ā€œracyā€ meant you can read the book fast, right?? Must have a lot of short words in them. Thatā€™s how Caulfield was able to read them so quickly! Thatā€™s the story Iā€™m gonna stick to!

I wonder if Jeff was anticipating ā€œBad Monkeyā€ streaming this month.

For Caulfield, ā€œappropriateā€ is apropos of making the teacherā€™s hair bun fly up in the air.

You can discuss any of them, just not always in detail.

Perhaps he could give an overview of how Skink is developed over the course of the series. Violence (which is allowed in discussion), but not much sexā€¦ He could even wrap it up by recommending ā€œSkink ā€“ No Surrender,ā€ which is one of Hiaasenā€™s books for younger readers.

Must be a Florida thing. Never heard of Hiaasen, or seen any of his books anywhere.

Racy doesnā€™t even begin to describe Hiaasen.

For some reason, whenever I hear the word ā€˜appropriateā€™, my teeth itch.

Can any fans of Carl Hiaasen suggest some of his books to start with? My local library has a bunch of his work.

ā€œAppropriateā€ is the book that doesnā€™t get you sent to detention by Mrs. Olsen!

After looking it up I guess the majority of American readers will consider Hiaasen too much of a commie to be within a mile of any kids brain.

I just picked up Skinny Dip, by Carl Hiaasen. Page 15 contains the phrase "semi retired dominatrix.ā€™ It keeps getting better, I expect to follow Caulfields lead.
