He should show some sense and avoid bringing parental wrath down on the school by choosing one of Hiaasen’s juveniles..

I think Jef even makes a cameo appearance in Star Island as a paramedic.

No amount of definition will help you to decide what’s appropriate. It’s a matter of judgement.

Ok, here’s my thought: Frazz stating some books were “racy” meant you can read the book fast, right?? Must have a lot of short words in them. That’s how Caulfield was able to read them so quickly! That’s the story I’m gonna stick to!

I wonder if Jeff was anticipating “Bad Monkey” streaming this month.

For Caulfield, “appropriate” is apropos of making the teacher’s hair bun fly up in the air.

You can discuss any of them, just not always in detail.

Perhaps he could give an overview of how Skink is developed over the course of the series. Violence (which is allowed in discussion), but not much sex… He could even wrap it up by recommending “Skink – No Surrender,” which is one of Hiaasen’s books for younger readers.

Must be a Florida thing. Never heard of Hiaasen, or seen any of his books anywhere.

For some reason, whenever I hear the word ‘appropriate’, my teeth itch.

Can any fans of Carl Hiaasen suggest some of his books to start with? My local library has a bunch of his work.

“Appropriate” is the book that doesn’t get you sent to detention by Mrs. Olsen!

After looking it up I guess the majority of American readers will consider Hiaasen too much of a commie to be within a mile of any kids brain.

I just picked up Skinny Dip, by Carl Hiaasen. Page 15 contains the phrase "semi retired dominatrix.’ It keeps getting better, I expect to follow Caulfields lead.
