I’ve always remembered the vey top panel because it features the Great Pumpkin himself! It’s the only time I can recall Charles Shulz actually showing him in the strip.
It might have been funnier to leave the thought balloon out in the last panel and just have Snoopy rolling his eyes, OR with an intense look on his face, like he’s really into it.
“The Great Pumpkin” is a Schulz classic … I’ve come to wonder what Linus learned, as I know him to be studious, that brought him to believe in The Great Pumpkin … ??? Happy Halloween, and don’t forget, Daylight Savings Time ends on November 2nd. ;)

It could be worse, Snoopy. He could have talked you into playing quidditch. Now that’s a foolish “sport”.

I understand, Snoop!

I’m surprised that they haven’t played, “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown,” on TV yet

Snoopy needs someone to follow him with coconut shells and a board.

We actually see the Great Pumpkin in the header!

This could be some Halloween/Great Pumpkin practice a few days before Halloween.

Linus doesn’t believe in the Great Pumpkin, he worships him.

That is why Snoopy got on his doghouse plane to try to shoot down the Red Baron instead.

Not exactly Paul Revere, but…

That’s okay Snoopy, Paul Revere’s ride drowns in myth as well.

And here’s cult leader Linus, trying to brainwash people into following his Cult of the Great Pumpkin. Never ends well for anyone that listens to him.

Looks more like a hobby donkey than a hobby horse.

Should have just brought the plane, Snoop. Or will the Allies not authorize the fuel expense unless you’re fighting the Red Baron?

Careful what you sign up for…

The next morning Linus wakes up with the head of the hobbyhorse in his bed.

Linus is such a smart kid to be spreading this nonsense. Oh well, everyone has a little bit of crazy in them.

You look like a fool too, Snoopy.
And your stick looks like a foal.

Humoring a friend can sometimes cost you a little dignity. It’s worth it.

Go with that thought, Snoop…you apparently did agree to this.

Snoopy, don’t forget to say the word. The word is Ni. Say that, and you can go through. And don’t forget to bring a shrubbery.
