Had a boss like that. Morale was low, so the company had everybody fill out surveys… my boss got nothing but complaints. He called a staff meeting where he berated us about the survey results, then patted himself on the back by saying that an unhappy staff proved he was doing a very good job…
It took a few years and a lot of staff turnover plus failed projects plus lost revenues before upper management finally demoted him. But by then it was too late – similar poor upper management decisions had mortally wounded the company, and it was bankrupt about a year later.
We did the 360 reviews at one company your boss was supposed to share their results with the team. I found out that My Boss had the lowest rating in the company, she never shared the results with the rest of us. The company celebrated any manager who had great results. So I wrote an angry email to the Sr. VP of HR (company had 8000 employees) that the 360 reviews were a waste of time and a joke, since my boss swept them under the rug. Nothing came of it, another Management proposal/idea that is a waste of time.
We had a manager who would call a meeting for the sole purpose of reaming someone out. During the annual survey he got the poorest ratings on site and threatened us if his ratings didn’t improve.
I once worked for a Major retailer, no longer doing business. The manager invited all of the staff and their spouses to join him and his wife for Christmas diner at a nice restaurant. At the end of the evening he passed out bonus checks to each staff member, they were a good bonus. Then the waiters came in and passed out the checks for our dinners. We were expected to pay for our own dinner! There’s always a catch.

That logo on her laptop looks like it’s from an old Apple Jacks cereal box.

Has anyone figured out what that laptop logo is yet?

They can expect another excuse for this year’s cancelled Christmas bonuses. (I worked for a place once that did that year after year.)

Rita has missed her true calling. Maybe she should be an inefficiency expert.
