Just so long as it’s not peanuts, popcorn, and crackerjack.

What a silly thing to argue about…it’s not like the serious argument of whether it is buck-naked or butt-naked…

Doesn’t matter in a few more days in Oakland. MLB is led by a bunch of hypocritical owners, starting with that Philly bum.

Original version, with most people committing many common (but admittedly insignificant) errors:

Take me out to the ballgame

Take me out with the crowd

Buy me some peanuts and cracker jack

I don’t care if I never get back

Let me root, root, root for the home team

    If they don’t win it’s a shame

For it’s one, two, three strikes you’re out

    At the old ball game

The original 1908 sheet music for “Take Me Out To The Ball Game” can be found at the Library of Congress. The word in that lyric is “never”. You can argue that the song has achieved the status of folk music, but that doesn’t help you win the argument because there is no such thing as a “correct” lyric in folk music, only lyrics sung by this or that singer or group. (Just search for the words, Take Me Out To the Ball Game Library of Congress.)
