That was not the impression I got of the S.E. class at the school I went to, but it was a pretty small and underfunded school.

Ah yes, when the newly created self-esteem runs into the reality of the “normal” classroom.

When you leave the land of Oz for a struggling farm in Kansas… Yeah. I never thought of that.

One of my kids needed Special Ed. And she loved it. The only real problem was that the program was perpetually underfunded. Still is the last I heard.

Fast forward to the bullying section of the arc….

Thought so. It’s when they withdrawal you from the system.

Otherwise, I don’t see how it would be a problem in rejoining the class after an hour or so. Our kids told us that there are all kinds of special ed classes in their kids’ school: for math, for English as a second language, for science wizz kids, and of course the kids who need more help with everything. In their school, there is the teacher, and the helper, so they get a lot accomplished in that one hour. The classes are set for an hour before lunch and after lunch it is business as us usual …

So special education is good, but because it’s so good, it’s bad, and Kevin is bad but will become good, so that is bad, or is it bad-good or good-bad?

When I was in fifth grade, back in the early 60s, SE was glorified day-care. It’s come a LONG way since then!
