The pope is a foreigner meddling in a U.S. election. Maybe things are different in the autocratic Catholic Church, but here in America, we have separation of Church and State.
His comments were inflammatory, further exacerbated our fears and divisions and put targets on the backs of people on both sides.
I would have expected that Christ’s representative here on Earth (I am NOT talking the political candidate who claims to be), would be preaching a message of reconciliation, acceptance and love and not one to set people against each other.
We’re not allowed to post links here, apparently, but you can read about what Francis actually said at ncronline dot org (the National Catholic Reporter site.)
It’s not choosing the lesser of two evils. There’s only one evil candidate between the two, but I won’t mention his name because this is a family comic strip.
If Francis had to call out something negative about the current USA political paradigm, why the f- couldn’t he have decried the inordinate, and perhaps existential, influence accorded Wealth?

I’d recommend the candidate who would like be more open to the RC Church allowing women to be priests.

I lost a lot of respect for Pope Francis after his comment here.

The pope puts crime against a fetus (which is a strictly religious belief) on equal footing with crimes against real people.

Every election is a choice between the lesser of two evils. And that doesn’t make voting any less important.

Never think that the lesser of two evils is not preferable to the greater of two evils.
