April has to share her colours and apparently in Panel 2, she has to share her eyes too. This pre-K really is tough.

Is that Elly in Panel #3? Shouldn’t she be at her bookstore job?

April, if you think this is work, you really don’t know the meaning of the word. Enjoy this ‘work’ while you can!

So how long was the bathroom break after the first panel? They may have been singing “ELLEMENNO (I have to go)….”

April is fondly reminiscing about the good old days of nursery school. And so it begins…

Just wait until you’re in elementary, middle school and high school April. You think Pre-K is tough.

Did you hear that they changed the alphabet song? They changed when the breaks were, spaced out the LMNO more and changed the words at the end from “Now I know my ABCs; next time won’t you sing with me” to “Now I never will forget, how to say the alphabet.”

April shows her picture to Ellie.

Ellie – “Tell me about your picture April.”

April – “Well, I had the color blue finger paint and I was going to make the sky but the teacher said we had to share our colors so I made a mess.”

Over the years as a teacher, I watched the kitchen sets disappear, the blocks and easels be put away, and more and more worksheets come into classrooms for kids who need to move and create with others to build language and social skills. There needs to be a balance! No wonder we have so many kids misdiagnosed as ADHD when they are normal preschoolers!

Be careful with those paints, April. Your brother used some on his face for Halloween and couldn’t get it off. That is why is he is called Avacadohead.

The second panel brought back a memory. It was a Little Golden Book about kindergarten. They played musical instruments and marched around and they fingerpainted. Now I’m going to have to look for it.
