The school bus is clearly always on time.

I remember my mom(we didn’t have a lot of money) told me I couldn’t get underwear with cartoon characters until I was older .I realized later it was just an excuse to put off paying for more expensive underwear lol

Spud always needs an excuse, which Wallace can be excused for excusing him. Bus, he just can’t win.

In second grade the girls would give the undies show on the monkey bars at recess.

Can’t say that in the many decades of my life that I’ve had an experience even remotely like that.

FYI: Moonstone is a clothing optional beach on the coast of RI.

And the kids had talk-fodder for the rest of their lives…..

I wonder what nickname Spud will earn from this — Captain Underpants, maybe?

More striped shirts and vests, hmmm..?

Anybody recall the Sunday where Spud was telling Amelia that his mother had purchased new fabric softener and how it was rocking his world?

I want undies with cheeseburgers on them…

A comment I never expected to be making – I love the drawing of the school bus pulling up fast on a dreary November morning. Will has captured the mingled dust and leaves and puddles of dirty water I remember so well from my childhood. He always excels at these quotidian things that hook the memory, like the back of the Snack Shack or Wallace’s dad’s toolshed/workshop. I say again, nobody else is doing this kind of work in comic strips today.

Ha HA! Wallace is such a great buddy to Spud!!

At least Spud knows Wallace will have his back for this…even if the help isn’t exactly appreciated at the moment.

But then, neither of them exactly thought that through.

Years ago, there was a warning to parents against sending little kids to school with anything other than basic white undies because some of them couldn’t resist showing off “favorite” undies. Wise advice…

Spud has set out to demonstrate that you can get sent to the principal’s office even before you get to school.
