My mum never once sewed me a costume. I was lucky if I got a plastic mask to wear with her old prom dresses, that were much too large. I was envious of those kids whose moms did that for them.
I always tried to be the mum I never had. I think I did ok :-)
Though the name centipede means 100 feet (or legs), no centipede species has exactly 100 leg (which would be 50 pairs of legs). Depending on the species, centipedes have do have an odd number of pairs (as Red said) between 15 and 177 pairs with an average of about 35 pairs.
When I was young, we cobbled together costumes from whatever old clothes and other things we could find. Lately I’ve been seeing costumes that are quite elaborate—I’m not sure if parents are making them or buying them, but how things have changed!
I remember when I was in charge of VBS & my kids were little…we used all the prizes the first day! I came home and sewed some and had one kid turned them inside out, one stuff them, one sew them shut, etc. We made it through the week!
One year I found tiger-striped pajamas for my young children. I bought them a size too large so they could wear clothing underneath and I used makeup to paint tiger faces on them. No sewing! (Thank goodness my mother sewed costumes for them when they were in grade school.)

Gotta wonder if it’s Red who’s “odd”, sometimes.

One hundred and one pairs of legs. Not quite as good as One Hundred and One Dalmatians.

Mom’s “pouf” looks a little higher than usual today. Maybe she’ll be dressing up as Elvira?

One year (waaaaay before today’s MCU) my mom sewed me a Captain America costume. I used a trash can lid as a shield. Best costume ever.

101 pairs means 202 individual legs. I don’t think so, Red.

It sounds like there will be more legs than costume!
