I live in a (up to now) solid “red” area of a solidly “blue” state. Gerrymandering after the 2020 census now has me in a toss-up district with no incumbent (redistricting put him in another district). The campaigns are ugly and quantity of mail and TV and even social media ads is ridiculous since the new state assembly district is in the same situation.
What annoys the heck out of me is that I constantly get – texts – from what I politely refer to as “the other party”, as many as 30 a day. I have never been in contact with them and had the phone number for well over a decade before it started. Started with text messages about the congressman in the next district to ours – but since phone numbers overlap I figured it was a just a mistake. I now get texts from candidates all over the country asking for money constantly. The more they send an annoy me – the less likely I am to vote for them.

I get a heck of a lot of it, but then I also donate to a few candidates and humanitarian causes. It’s like a shark when it senses blood in the water.

Perhaps a Burn Barrel beside the Mailbox post? Lately, it would never stop smoldering.

Especially if you live in a swing state like me. (PA) Between the commercials, mail and the phone calls I’m going crazy.

Wish I had a fire place. With all the campaign mailers, I’d have more than enought fire starting materila to last all winter.

Just set out one of those oil drums with the instruction on it to put all political flyers there. You know what we do with paper in an old oil drum.

Curiously, I have not gotten a single piece of mail from any candidate for any office this year.

I vote how I like and register independent. It definitely cuts down on the junk mail.

You think that’s difficult, try sorting it at the post office.
