Not really. I know you need an upward flow of water to fluidize the sand. Don’t know how common or rare it is.

I DO know it inherently has to be denser than pure water, so most can float in quicksand.

Quicksand was always very unrealistically depicted in old TV shows and movies. It’s virtually impossible to drown by sinking to the bottom, since quicksand is denser than the human body.

How do you make an hourglass go faster?

    You fill it with quicksand.

Favorite use of quicksand in TV or movies? Mine are Blazing Saddles and the episode of Gilligan’s Island where Mr. Howell faked his death.

Ugh. Not in short supply here. Be glad to let the coasts have some of the rain to help with the fires.

Quicksand. People only drown in it in movies, your average quicksand pool is about three feet deep.

If that was a narrow path and if what they’re in was bottomless, I know a few artists I would send down that path

Quicksand and rattlesnakes were the most popular hazards in the western comic books.

That’s the truth. When I was a kid I thought quicksand would be a major hazard in life (judging by movies and TV), but I have yet to encounter any and I’m retired.

Apparently Wiz just found a side job selling mud and knows a good marketing agent.
