I look forward to those two to three page holiday letters from distant relatives documenting all the yearly news of their grandkids, house remodels, trips to Cuba, new cars, deceased dogs and finally the list of tribulations of their illnesses, operations etc. Good times…..

TIL you can still buy envelopes that you have to lick to seal.

A damp sponge will take care of that.

I don’t know about anyone else but I’m not licking anything that’s been laying around and handled by I don’t know who.

The glue at least tastes better than it did thiry – forty years ago. On some, it has a slight minty taste.

    1. My spouse will not allow me to buy any envelopes that are not self sealing. AND for those freebee cards that are not, I bought her one of those ‘pens’ that you fill with water and has a wedge shaped sponge at one end.

I like real Christmas cards better than Spotify photos of strange children on a beach.

THIS plugger, who would love to go back in time and give Mr. Hallmark’s dad a condom, refuses to invest the time and money in @#$#!!! cards, which he considers a ridiculous waste. Wife still does a few, but that’s all on her.

On of the great unsung inventions of modern life is self-stick stamps. (I remember, not fondly, when they weren’t)

One year my cat licked all my envelopes and stamps for Christmas cards. He liked the taste of the glue and never cut his tongue. They have changed the formula and I’ve never been able to get a cat interested in it since then.

If you believe forensic-crime shows on TV, leaving DNA-containing spit on envelope flaps and stamps has put a lot of Pluggers behind bars…

Nope, not us. We’ve had a series of envelope sealer bottles/moisteners over the past 20 years or so, starting with a simple kitchen sponge. You wouldn’t catch us licking envelopes, which is nasty enuff, but who in their right mind wants to after that famous Seinfeld episode, lol.
