I recently learned that the aluminum trees were very popular from the late 50s to the mid-60s. Then the Charlie Brown Christmas Special (1965) made fun of the metal ones, and their popularity died almost overnight. After the Special aired, sales of aluminum trees went to practically nothing, and within a couple of years the metal ones were discontinued.

Manitowoc, Wisconsin has them everywhere in their downtown. That’s where they were made when they were popular.

The Evergleam aluminum trees were popular in the late 1950s to mid 1960s. I put up my grandparents aluminum trees every year. >
