I see Joe Staton is credited as the regular artist, with Rick Burchett credited as “Guest Artist”. Does this mean TMS interrupted the current storyline with the clock with a rerun of a Mini Mystery that originally ran several years ago, when Joe was still with the script?
It’s time Tribune did something to stablize and secure the future of the strip. Fix it, or end it – but know this, Mike Curtis would be responsbile for revitilizing and then causing the end of the strip – although not intentionally due to his health – I’ve heard THREE possiblities – one is it’s issues with his remaing eye (He lost an eye to canser several years ago) the next it’s serious issues with his back, the third it’s both. Which means Tribune would look bad to fire Mike over health issues – are they waiting for him to walk. They seem to be ok with him as a defacto co-editor and allowing guest tallent to come in and work on the strip. But it’s very clear if they don’t end the strip. that Eric Costello is going to take over the strip with Charles as the artist. However, it does seem this streaching out may be so Mike can do the next story and needs two more weeks of prep time and Eric couldn’t pad out the current story. This is all speculation. Tribune has been more than quiet about the strip….
Dick Tracy is coming up on a One Hundred Year anniversary and all its loyal fans from over the years get is to watch the once great strip die a lingering and miserable death ? I can’t take this .
WEIRD OT: Went for a walk last night, when, around the audio book I was plugged into, I heads someone stating “I know this guy.” Not something I’m used to, as I pretty much keep to myself and Terri. A muscular latino guy approached me, and the first thing he said was ‘Bela Lugosi.’ I assume because of the DEVIL BAT poster in my cube-home. The things people recall. Seems he worked at my last job, according to him around 2003. He recognized me after 2 years?! Effusive, lied shamelessly, saying I looked surprisingly young and good. A real stunner of an experience.
ODD OT: Odd. Woke up to an e-mail request to submit a short story to some mystery collection, based on my brief TRACY work. I almost never get a ‘referral’ based on prior work. Good opportunity to revive ‘Donald ’Fish’ Dugan, my prizefighter turned cynical P.I.character.
1- DT: Hey shadow – read that for me. DT’s SHADOW:The idiot thinks I can talk AND read…
2- DT:* So…you’re a chick dressed up as Flattop? I MEAN – I knew that. Just look at your little hands, thin neck, cute freckles and inviting, luscious mouth…uhhh. Where’s the restroom? I feel “funny”… FLATDICK: Well – you’re accurate with the description but not with your ending gender assumption. ANYWAY…
3- :* …Flatty needs frisking! Come here baby and be thorough – I am MOST DEFINITIELY hiding a groin gun! Well – not exactly “hiding” it…
After all the build-up, does the current Minit Mystery signify that the Clock Tower story has ended without any conclusion (except that the light got turned back on)? I’m still wondering what happened to Silver Nitrate. Why do they give us all the back story and then leave us wondering how it turned out? It’s a mystery.
Well, I’m back! Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. In other news, Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales still abound, Generalissimo Francisco Franco is still dead, and this strip is still spiraling down the drain….
And Spain is better off for it.Found a DVD of some of Spike Jones’ television appearances on the Colgate Comedy Hour, early 1950’s(alias Spike D*ke). One of the guest stars was Liberace.
try to imagine Spike Jones and Liberace standing next to each other, and you’ll get a bigger high t han LSDcould ever give you
I have been a Dick Tracy fan since 1959 as I remember, I am shocked to hear about Mike’s health, I knew nothing about it, I wish him well, and I do appreciate all you commenters, I also wish all of you and the strip as well.

I’m back,in case anyone is thrilled by the news.
Above quote inspired by my unexpectedly having to have a tooth extracted last Saturday. I could tell you it was a lot of fun. But I’d be lying.
You’ll notice nobody is cosplaying as Vera Alldid. The thought repulses even murderers.
