Pickle jars aren’t a problem. The problem is jars with something sticky inside like honey or Marmite. If you aren’t careful, it gets on the cap threads and glues the jar shut.
The next time anyone has blood drawn, ask the phlebotomist if you can have the rubber/elastic band. (They toss them so it’s not like they can use them again). Wrap it around any jar or lid and it will open like you have Superman strength. When I had blood drawn last summer, the phlebotomist is the one who told that to me and gave me the band. I now have 4 of them. One is in my suitcase for travels.
the strips have declined, but who can blame an 80 year old man who aside from being old, is also running out of ideas… so in that sense, he still does a great job on the strip.

How about sauerkraut jars? The Count has one in the pantry that has been there for a couple of years and the lid is still like it was welded on.

In Jon’s defense, jars like that (pickle or otherwise) can be kind of difficult to open sometimes.

I have a tool for that Jon. These old hands need an assist.

Are you going to wait around for someone that needs a jar opened? Or just go to the grocery and open all of them?

Try several times unsuccessfully, then hand it to Liz, who can open it in a second, and say, “I guess you loosened it for me.”
