I’m reminded of an old “MAD” magazine cartoon (I know, there isn’t any other kind) where what was found was actually the top cap to a large pyramid in the background.
A guy is riding in the Arizona desert after a sandstorm and he sees… a ten gallon hat, just lying there. He dismounts and walks over to it and picks it up and to his surprise there’s a head underneath. The head says “I got caught in the sandstorm. Do you think you could dig me out?” The other guy grabs a shovel and starts digging carefully. The head says “could you dig faster? I’m sitting on my horse and we’d both like to get free.”
