“He said he can’t find a place cheap enough to rent” is a bit too close to the knuckle. My sons had real trouble trying to find anything they could afford that wasn’t also a roach infested, primeval swamp with high crime rate.

The son of some friends is still staying with them in his thirties. But at least he works full time and shares expenses. Whatever works.
