Between the coddled pedophiles of the Catholic church, and the blatant greed, lack of empathy, compassion, and the desire for social justice of the pastors, I feel Mahatma Ghandi said it best when asked about âChristianityâ. He said: âI like your Christ very much. I do not like you Christians. You are so unlike your Christâ.
It was called the Gospel of Wealth over one hundred years ago. The appropriately named Russell Conwell was one of the key proponents of. Fleecing the flock is nothing new in the U.S.
All that any religion has ever had to offer is companionship with its professionals. But why shop there? Thereâs an even older profession that offers the same deal with much more reliable and satisfying results.
The Prosperity Gospel also directly contradicts the lesson of the Book of Job. His friends came and asked âWhat did you do to deserve this? Confess!â Meaning that people think you must have been bad to get such bad treatment from God. This leads to things like âAbortion and The Gays caused this Hurricane! We must stop them!âBut Job didnât do anything wrong. God even defended him. Bad things happen to Good People because Life the way we know it here on Earth depends on our dynamic planet that has tsunamis, hurricanes, earthquakes, Floods, Famines, etc. Most people join these false churches thinking, âIf I join, Iâll get rich!â when Jesusâ words to the young Roman say this isnât so. He said, âSell all you own and serve the poor,â and the young Roman went away in tears because he clung to his wealth. I am not a good Christian. I cling to what I have. So, I, too, have fallen for this. Still, I strive. I strive.
I had no idea of the firestorm I was starting by my original post, which was meant to be ironic. Lalo apparently thinks Christian pastors mostly fleece their flocks; I do not â I believe the vast majority of them are true Believers who wish only to serve. I, too, seek to serve Him, and my fellow man (and woman).

Any church that has a minister who tells you how to vote or spend your money needs a new minister.

Jesus would not recognize the Gospel of Greed as having the slightest resemblance to what He taught.

Todayâs evangelical âChristiansâ oppose what Jesus taught. They are the âModern Day phariseesâ.
