One of the few perks of my government job was when the folks back at headquarters in Washington D.C. decided that all GS-11s (like me) performing my function would be raised to GS-12s with a whopping pay increase. You should have seen the look on my boss’s face. And nothing he could do about it.

Does the Chief know Mr Dithers from Blondie ? Poor Brutus and Dagwood are always being taunted with a raise and then disappointed ☹️

Getting the same pay for all these years is not keeping up with the cost of living. Even cost of living increases don’t keep up with the cost of living.
